The next opportunity to switch to a blended school schedule will be Oct. 13th at the start of the second six weeks grading period.


All seniors must provide proof of receiving a single dose of TDAP vaccine and a booster dose of the meningococcal vaccine if the first dose was given before the age of 16. This must be provided by first day of school. This is required regardless of in school or virtual attendance.  Seniors will also need to provide proof of a dental and well child exam that has been within the last year. It must have been within one year of the day of enrollment. THERE WILL BE A 45 DAY GRACE PERIOD FOR EXAMINATIONS BUT NOT FOR IMMUNIZATIONS!

Additionally, Seniors will not be allowed to participate in any extracurricular practices or games after the first day of school if we have not received proof of immunizations!

Last year’s yearbooks are in, so for those that ordered them, they can pick them up in the office. Remember to wear a mask and wait in the office to be helped.

There’s a limited number of extra books that can be bought. They’re $60. Cash or check to Tolsia High School Yearbook.

Crum PK-8 School Students Partner for A Warm Winter for Needy

Crum PK-8 BETA Club recently partnered with the Crum Alumni Group to host a Pancake Breakfast.  The event was held to raise money to purchase coats for Crum PK-8 students that were in need.  The event raised over $1,000 and the United Way of the River Cities provided $800 as well.  The United Way funding was part of the Big Cover Up Grant Program to support the cause.

The Children’s Incorporated Group joined with the Crum Beta Club to have volunteers to shop for the coats to be given away.  The effort resulted in 140 coats to be given away to needy students in the Crum area.  The event was a huge success and a great benefit to the community.

Crum Pk-8 BETA sponsor Victory Ramey said, “Our group had a wonderful time working with area groups with a common purpose.  We enjoy giving our students the learning opportunities while doing community service at the same time.  I want to thank our Principal, Mrs. Nona Newsome, and sponsors Elias and Vicky Perry for all their help and support!

Crum PK-8 School Students Raising the Level on Math Achievement

At Crum PK8, Mrs. Stacy Hodge’s class participated in a Mathia Challenge and earned a pizza party for their accomplishments.  The Mathia Challenge program is sponsored by the Carnegie Learning Group and it is designed to help to elevate math performance for students.

Mrs. Hodge’s class all completed their 1st semester of Mathia curriculum and were on track with the program.  This allowed them to qualify to be recognized for their achievements.  They received $60 in Dominos Pizza and got to enjoy a pizza party!  Mrs. Hodge said, “We are very proud of our eighth grade students in this class and we are looking to keep it going second semester.  We have set high goals for our students to achieve even higher levels.  I am very proud of all our students and want to say, Go Mounties!

Crum PK-8 School Students Have “Eggs –citing Time Learning”

At Crum PK8, Mrs. Paula Brewer’s class participated in learning about animals in a science unit. The unit included learning about chickens, including the life cycle, the incubation period, where chickens live and predicting the color of newborn chicks.  Mrs. Brewer’s Class watched videos, made predictions, candled the eggs at various stages of development and used ten frames to count down the days until hatch day. The unit on chickens also included other lessons on taking care of pets properly.  Mrs. Brewer said, “We are excited that our students get the opportunity to apply their learning skills in exciting ways. They have learned great new skills and enjoyed their learning at the same time. This is an example of the active learning going on here at Crum PK-8.”

Crum PK-8 School Archery Team Finding the Right Mark

     Crum PK-8 Archery Team recently completed its 7th season. The team is under the direction of Crum PK-8 teacher Mrs. Victory Ramey. Mrs. Ramey said, “We had a great group of kids who really enjoyed the opportunity to participate in the archery competitions. It is a new and exciting sport and we are glad to offer it here at Crum PK-8.

     The Crum Archery Team has had a successful year with several members having great performances. Hunter Dearnell and his father Shawn finished first in the 6th Annual Crum Parent/Child Shoot. Parents compete with their kids and against their kids in this competition.  Rylan Perry and his parents came in second and Kaelan Dillon and dad finished third. This competition is a great way to boos Parent Involvement at the school.

     The Crum Pk-8 Archery team also competed at the Marshall University Archery Shoot as well and had the opportunity to qualify for the WV State Tournament. The team is sponsored by Mrs. Ramey, Mrs. Newsome and Mrs. Vance at the school and they want to wish the Mountaineers the very best..
